Suffolk Foundation Awards $350,000 in Grants
Suffolk, VA, December 10, 2024 — In 2025 the Suffolk Foundation awarded over $350,000 to nonprofits serving Suffolk and Western Tidewater through its Community Impact Grants program and through the Community Action Coalition of Virginia Fund.
ACCESS College Foundation: $15,000 for educational advisory services and scholarship assistance for Suffolk Public School students ($6800 Community Impact Grant, plus $8200 from the Community Action Coalition Fund)
American Diabetes Association: $1000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund for the 2026 Tour de Cure event in Smithfield, Virginia
American Red Cross of Coastal Virginia: $5000 for emergency financial assistance for victims of house fires in Suffolk and Western Tidewater ($4000 Community Impact Grant, plus $1000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund)
Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia: $2000 Community Impact Grant for the Franklin Boys and Girls Club
Bridge the Gap Outreach Center: $1000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund for the Giving Box Project, supporting families who are struggling to meet basic household needs
Children’s Center: $3100 to provide short-term funding to low-income families with emergency circumstances to continue childcare and/or therapy services ($2100 Community Impact Grant, plus $1000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund)
Children’s Harbor: $2900 to provide vouchers for low-income families with emergency circumstances for childcare at the Suffolk Children’s Harbor ($1900 Community Impact Grant, plus $1000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund)
Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk: $13,500 to provide emergency rent assistance, utility assistance, and winter shelter to Suffolk residents in financial crisis ($7200 Community Impact Grant, plus $6300 from the Community Action Coalition Fund)
Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads: $6400 to provide integrated student supports to youth at five locations in Suffolk Public Schools ($3900 Community Impact Grant, plus $2500 from the Community Action Coalition Fund)
Community Outreach Coalition: $2500 Community Impact Grant to fund Personal Care Aide training for Suffolk residents, removing financial barriers to entering the high-demand home healthcare field
Cornerstone Ballet Company: $2500 from the Community Action Coalition Fund for scholarships for students who cannot otherwise afford to participate in ballet programs
Cultured Pearls Foundation of Suffolk: $3000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund for the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP) Program
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Suffolk Chapter): $5000 from the Community Action Coalition Fund for school backpack and little library programs
