2009 Grant Awardees

“In the face of the grinding recession that has frustrated non-profits around the country, the Foundation made good its commitment to enhance the quality of life for the people living in and around Suffolk.” (Suffolk News Herald – Dec. ’09)

The Suffolk Foundation held its Second Annual Grant Award’s Breakfast on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Nansemond River Golf Club. This year the Foundation was able to disburse $43,800 to eleven different nonprofit agencies. Since the Foundation received its 501 (c) (3) nonprofit community foundation status in October, 2007, it has awarded over $250,000 in grants and scholarships.

This year, the Foundation placed an emphasis on grant applications supporting human needs and services. It is the intent of the Foundation, as donations increase and investments grow, to be able to support the diversified needs of the citizens living in and around the City of Suffolk.
